One of the most common eye issues among children is pink eye (also known as conjunctivitis). This is partly due to the fact that it is contagious, and easy to pass from one child to the next. As an experienced pediatric ophthalmologist in Orange County, Dr. Golareh Fazilat works to provide pink eye treatment for kids after a thorough diagnosis.
What causes pink eye?
There is no one cause for pink eye. There is also more than one type: viral conjunctivitis, bacterial conjunctivitis, and allergic conjunctivitis. Viral and bacterial conjunctivitis can be associated with respiratory infections and colds, while allergic conjunctivitis is the body’s response to an allergen.
Of course, bacteria pink eye is the type found most commonly in children. This can develop as a result of coming into contact with bacteria and then not washing your hands before touching your eyes.
